Fr. Bob was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 20, 1951, and spent most of his formative years in Brooklyn and Fairview, NJ.  Prior to priesthood, Fr. Bob was employed in the field of data processing as a computer operator (1970 – 1975) and computer programmer (1976 – 1980) for IBM Corporation where he worked in New York City and Mount Pleasant, NY. He remained working for IBM in a part time capacity during his seminary years until 1984.

In 1980 Fr. Bob initiated studies for priesthood at St. Mary’s Seminary and University, Baltimore, Maryland. He received a Bachelor of Arts in 1983, and Master of Sacred Theology in 1985. This led to his ordination to the diaconate on May 16, 1985, and priesthood on November 30, 1985. His first parish assignment was Our Lady of the Lake Church, Sparta, NJ where he remained until 1990. In this assignment Father Bob also served as chaplain at the Sussex County Correctional Facility in Newton, and Sussex County Juvenile Detention Center.

In 1990 Fr. Bob joined the Pastoral Team at St. Brendan Church, Clifton and remained there until February 4, 1997. At St. Brendan Church, Fr. Bob was instrumental in teaching religion in the parish school, and introduced the pre-Cana program to the parish as well as a children's Sunday liturgy. He also worked as chaplain as the Essex County Correctional Facility for Women in Caldwell. Upon his transfer from St. Brendan Church, Fr. Bob spent the next 8 months at Corpus Christi, Chatham Township until October 20, 1997 when he became administrator of St. Jude Church, Budd Lake, and was installed as pastor on March 23, 1998.

In addition to his everyday duties at St. Jude, Fr. Bob worked in an assortment of ministries both for the Diocese and community which included co-president of the Mount Olive Clergy Association, member of the Mount Olive Ethics Committee, Dean of Western Morris County, chairperson of the College of Deans in the Diocese of Paterson, and chairperson of the Priest’ Salary Committee. On February 11, 2010 Fr. Bob was assigned to St. Patrick Church, Chatham and installed as pastor by Bishop Arthur Serratelli on May 23, 2010.

Fr. Bob maintains a multitude of hobbies that include travel. He fulfilled three of his dreams, which led him to the pyramids of Egypt, the Great Wall of China, and a visit to distant relatives scattered around the cities of Melbourne, Sidney, and Brisbane, Australia. In addition to travel, Fr. Bob may be found throughout the summer months at Fenway Park cheering for his beloved Red Sox, while the other seasons lull him to the TV set rooting for the N.Y. Jets. He is also an avid fan of the N.J. Devils and Boston Celtics, and loves theater and dinner in New York City. Another enjoyment for Fr. Bob is walks through the streets and parks of New York City. In looking at life Fr. Bob says that balance is the key. A happy life contains a balance of prayer, loving relationships, hard work, exercise, and hobbies. This generates enthusiasm for him to wake up each morning with the ability to put the joys and sorrows, surprises and routines, successes and failures into perspective.
