Liturgy of the Word with Children and Children's Church
These programs are offered during the school year at the 9:30am mass for children from preschool through grade 1. After the opening prayer, the priest celebrating the mass invites the children to the altar for a dismissal blessing. Leaders accompany the children to classrooms below the church.
LWWC is for children in kindergarten and grade 1. The children listen to the readings of the day from the Children’s Lectionary. They sing the responses and reflect on the readings.
Children’s Church is geared to preschool-aged children. They hear a bible story, sing and color. All of the children are returned to church as the gifts are brought to the altar.
No advance sign-up is required. Families can decide on the spot whether their children will participate on any given Sunday.
Participating in these programs inspires children to participate more fully in the mass, and opens the stories of the scriptures for them at their level of understanding.
Volunteers are always needed and welcome to assist with this ministry. A short training session is provided. Leaders are scheduled according their availability. -
