– The community is invited to a special presentation “For All the Saints” planned for Oct. 30 at 11:15 a.m. at The Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township. The Rev. Dr. Ellen C. Clemot, senior pastor at the church, and The Rev. Thomas Brown, associate pastor, will be joined by Dr. Mark Nixon, deacon at Saint Patrick Roman Catholic Church, for an informal conversation about sainthood and the perspectives on saints within different Christian denominations. All Saints’ Sunday is typically observed in worship on the last Sunday in October. It is a time to rejoice in all who through the ages have faithfully served the Lord. The day also reminds us that we are part of one continuing, living communion of saints. “This is a wonderful opportunity for ecumenical sharing around the subject of saints, insights into sainthood from both Presbyterian and Catholic tradition, and to celebrate what our faiths have in common,” said Nixon. Nixon has served as Deacon at St. Patrick Church in Chatham since his ordination in 1999. He earned both his master’s and doctoral degrees in theology from Fordham University, as well as master’s degrees in business administration and economics from Stanford University. Clemot earned her Doctor of Ministry degree from Duke Divinity School in 2020 and her Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in 2012. Brown received his Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1999, having spent an extra year there specializing in youth ministry.
